Post it
1) Post It is a strategy for the teacher to post the objectives for the class. This clearly lets the students know what you expect in the classroom and what will be learned for the day. This leads to no “surprises” for the students which often occur in many classes. It also keeps focus and order in the classroom.
2) Post It strategy is a good strategy because it can work with students with learning disabilities such as ADHD and Autism, as well as students without. Most students with these learning disabilities learn more successfully when instruction directly communicates what they need to learn. By using the post it strategy this presents new information in an explicit and well-organized manner. This is important to students with these types of learning disabilities because they do not respond well to change and surprises. Although this seems to be very key in helping students with learning disabilities structure is very important in dealing with any type of student and the post it strategy gives that.
3) I plan to be a Physical Education teacher, so here is what the post it strategy might look like in my class/gym. I would post overall objectives for the class to focus on everyday as well as what may be planned for the day. If we were learning about basketball ball handling on a particular day, my Post It strategy may look something like this on the board or a poster:
Class Objective: Physical education is to develop physically educated individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.
1. The definition of ball handling.
2. Learn the cues necessary to proper ball handling.
· Eyes up
· Ball on fingertips
· Hand in the shape of the ball
3. Drills to execute proper ball handling.
· Wrap It Up
· Switcheroo
· Hot Potato
· Figure 8
· Fast Hands High/Low
4. Review of everything learned and a check of if our lesson was relevant with our class objective.
